Structural and Mechanical Engineering researcher
BIOGRAPHY
I am a structural engineer, mechanician, researcher, and educator with a vision of developing and testing innovative scalable solutions for global engineering challenges.
Currently, as a postdoc in Mechanical Engineering at the
Flexible Structures Laboratory
(flexLab, EPFL, Lausanne-Switzerland), I am investigating the stability and mechanics of thin spherical shells, entangled elastic rods and bio-inspired structures via experimental, numerical and probabilistic methods.
Prior to this, I obtained my MS and PhD in Structural Engineering and Mechanics from UMass Amherst, USA (2019 and 2021, respectively), focusing on the mechanics and performance of thin-walled metallic structures: from plate-lattice architected materials to cold-formed steel shear walls.
Previously, I got my diploma in Civil Engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece (2017), and spent six months as an exchange student at Cracow University of Technology, Poland.
When I am not playing with thin-walled structures and their mechanics, I enjoy running marathons, skiing, hiking, salsa/bachata dancing, and traveling.
